Single Vision - This all purpose lens is available in all materials,
and can be used for either distance or near vision correction. To see
clearly in the distance and close up, two pairs of eyeglasses may be
needed. |
 |
Bifocals - Yes, Ben Franklin created the bifocal lens, providing both
far and near correction in one lens. Most bifocals will have a visible
dividing line on the lens, and do not correct for intermediate vision
(looking at the dashboard of a car). |
 |
Trifocals - Trifocals are bifocal lenses with a third mid-range area.
The majority of the lens is for distance viewing, while the center and
bottom of the lens is divided into intermediate and near viewing segments.
Trifocals have two visible dividing lines. |
 |
No-Line Varilux Physio and Ipseo Progressives - Progressive lenses
correct for far (driving), intermediate (viewing the dashboard), and near
(reading a map) vision all in one lens. Progressive lenses offer the most
"natural" vision of all the multifocals. Progressive lenses have no visible
dividing lines and have the appearance of single vision lenses...therefore,
they are also the most cosmetically desirable. Progressive lenses come in many
lens material options - all of them scratch resistant.
The Varilux Physio and Ipseo are the most advanced of all the progressive lenses.
These "state of the art" progressive lenses take advantage of the latest "wave
front" techonology, and incorporate individualized mesaurements making them as
unique as your fingerprints.
Most patients will find progressive lenses to be their best choice for
a multifocal. |

High Index Lenses - Fat or Skinny? What's the Easiest way to Lose Weight
High index lenses can reduce the weight and thickness of old fashioned lenses -
by as much as 45%! High index lenses can also give better clarity and vision.
So, lose that weight and put your eyeglasses on a diet with one of the latest
high index lenses available from Optical Fashions. |
 |
|
Polycarbonate Lenses - Polycarbonate is a type of high index plastic (thinner
and lighter) and is also the most impact resistant of all the lens materials.
Polycarbonate is recommended for anyone playing sports, or engaging in any activity
where eye protection is a must (i.e. using heavy machinery). ALL children and ALL
patients with vision in one eye only should consider polycarbonate as their
best choice of lens material. |
 |
Transition/Photochromatic Lenses
- Transition lenses are the most popular lens option. Transition lenses will be
virtually clear indoors and at night, yet quickly turn a dark sunglass color
in bright sun. Transition lenses come in all lens materials and formats, block
harmful UV light, and are scratch resistant. While transistion lenses are incredibly
versatile, they do not darken appreciably in vehicles (vehicular glass blocks UV
light, which is what causes Transitions to darken).

Anti-Glare/Anti-Reflection Treatments -
These clear treatments are a modern miracle - they reduce 99% of the glare
and reflections from the surface of your eyeglass lenses. Anti-glare treatments
allow all the light to pass through the lens rather than having some bounce off
the lens. More light entering your eyes helps improve visual acuity and reduces
eye fatigue. These modern treatments are easy to clean and care for, and are especially
helpful for night driving and computer use. One additional benefit to these
treatments is cosmetic - with no reflections from your lens surface, lenses
become less visible and tend to blend in with many of today's minimalist
frame styles. |
 |
|
Scratch Resistant Treatments - While no lens is scratch proof, all lenses
are now available with hardened scratch resistant treatments...extra protection
for your investment. |
 |
 |
Sunglasses - Today sunglasses offer great protection in frame styles that
were never before possible. Advances in lens technology allow us to selectively
choose the proper color for your particular needs. All of our sunglasses block 100%
of damaging UV light, and we offer specific colors that can enhance contrast and
reduce eye fatigue. While polarized lenses can be a great aid for boaters and
fishermen, there are new lens options that can help skiers and golfers and hunters
and just about anyone who does anything outdoors. |
 |
|
Computer Glasses - Today, there are several great choices for those of us
that use computers! If you view a computer screen for more than two hours a
day, you could benefit from a near variable lens...giving clear, restful vision
to the computer screen and the immediate vicinity. |
 |
Sports Glasses - Safety is the key...and sports glasses provide the
most impact resistant lenses and frames available. Anyone who participates
in sports needs to consider the eye protection that only dedicated sports
eyeglasses can provide (some schools now mandate that all students playing
organized sports wear a certified sports eyeglass frame with polycarbonate
safety lenses). Sports glasses are available in several designs and colors. |
 |
Special Needs - NO, we still do not have those X-ray vision glasses!
However we do have Rx scuba masks, ski goggles, swimming goggles, and shooting
glasses. Need a wrap around sunglass for when you're on your motorcycle?
Special needs? Let us design the perfect eye glasses just for you. |
